Fanny is an evolving collection of stackable furniture, meticulously designed with a focus on simplicity and clean lines. The furniture is crafted to operate in tranquility, providing a sense of calm in an otherwise chaotic environment. Deliberately considering the health benefits of sitting on the floor, this collection aims to elevate the floor, creating furniture that affords individuals the opportunity for increased mobility. These pieces feature a broader seat, purposefully designed without armrests to allow both children and adults the freedom to move more freely and effortlessly change positions. The low-backed stool serves as lumbar support, facilitating proper posture and making it easier to maintain a straight back. Stools without backrests encourage awareness of posture, prompting users to stretch and engage their core and back muscles, ultimately contributing to improved posture and potentially mitigating various health issues. Observing cultures worldwide where floor sitting is prevalent, it becomes evident that people of all ages exhibit greater flexibility compared to those in 'chair-centric' societies. Unfortunately, children are introduced to chairs prematurely, and older individuals are inundated with advertisements for chairs that aid in sitting down and standing up. This has detrimental effects on the body – a trend we, as a designers, aspire to challenge and improve.
Our goal is to foster a healthier physique and assist individuals in effortlessly caring for themselves without constant mindfulness. The furniture incorporates cork for both seating and tabletop surfaces – sound-absorbing, warming, and ergonomically designed for comfort. Each piece is stackable, allowing for easy room transformations, and features a nature-inspired color palette, instilling a sense of serenity without ostentation. These pieces are not just functional but also aesthetically pleasing.
